From John Barnett, The Barnett Family in Alabama, 1934 :
Maggie, Dollie, James Robert, and Bessie came from Texas to Alabama in May 1893 - Maggie and Dollie going to the home of Uncle Robert A Barnett near Briar Hill. Maggie died there a few months later and is interred Carters Cemetery, Briar Hill. Robert and Bessie went to home of Uncle William H Barnett, near Ansley and were reared under the loving care of Grandmother Barnett until her death which was about June 1898.

Narrative

From Felton
George Washington Barnett married Josephine Sledge on Dec 11, 1866 and moved to Fort Worth, Texas. He served in the Confederate army, enlisted in teh Fall of 1861 at Montgomery Alabama. He was engaged in teh battle of Shiloh, (Pittsburg Landing, Tenn) near Savannah, Tenn, and just above the Ala-Mississippi ine, also fought at Murfreesboro, TN, (30 miles south of Nashville), also at Chicamauga and Kennesaw Mountain, GA, where he received a severe wound in his arm which unfitted him for further service. He was truthful, honest, and patriotic, never shunning his duty as a soldier and a friend. He died at Fort Worth, on April 5, 1907, after suffering several months from severe stroke of paralysis; the first stroke occurring while he was attending a regular meeting of Robert E Lee Camp 158, United Confederate Veterans. Suitable resolutions were spread upon the minutes and a copy sent to his family. Interred at Fort Worth. His wife died 1887 or 1888 at or near Brenham, Texas.

Narrative

Note from The Barnett Family of Alabama :
...moved to or near Fort Worth, Texas. He served in teh Confederate
Army and his arm was wounded in the battle of Shiloh. He then returned
home where his father gave the arm careful treatment and saved it.
